Another SHACK Story

The SHACK! I would not use it as scripture nor form my theology from it, but I believe there is an anointing on it to free people up from religion, performance and various misconceptions about “Papa” that many folks, even Christians, have. After initially BLASTING the book before actually reading it (based on snippets I’d heard), I’ve since read it and become a huge fan – giving away 7 copies after reading it (momma, neighbor who recently lost his wife, two friends – one who is going through a very painful divorce and bankruptcy AND the folks from the Tuesday encounters cited below).

Tuesday was an awesome day! Incredible divine appointments for ministry: a 60 year old, cynical lawyer and I discussed the kingdom of God and how those born of above are actually strangers and aliens here, NEVER feeling at home on this rock, longing for our heavenly home (I’m planning togive him the Shack on Friday); an 85 year old woman and I discussed the love of God (although she is a radical liberal and hostile to Christianity – she always brings these topics up when she sees me – go figure). When she was very young, she used to go to church all the time until she was raped by a traveling evangelist at the pulpit at age 8 which explains her extreme dislike for religion and why she has not attended church since that encounter (I gave her the SHACK yesterday and told her to read it to that 8-yr old little girl she told me about); and a 45 year old woman overheard me and another man discussing worship and the presence of God (she was the receptionist at the auto dealership I was getting my car serviced at), and she preceded to tell us how her teenage son and 3 others (two of them were her niece and nephew) all died in a car crash one year ago on graduation day (her husband also died that same year). She told us that she is searching for answers, and I share a little from my heart about the Lord and told her I had a gift for her that I would bring over the following day (I delivered a copy of the SHACK with the inscription, “I pray this book helps you find some of those answers you’re searching for.”)

There are some who would not pick up a Bible… this book is a great opportunity to turn their eyes toward spiritual things in a very non-threatening way.

That’s my SHACK story.

Interesting blog page... I like your "Visioneering for 2010" and find your two questions provocative...
What is it that you want?
AND
Where do you go from here?

...but I wonder if there isn't a third question that's at least as important for this coming year/decade:

Where can you no longer stay...?

:joker:

.
...having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away...
ever learning, and never able to come to the precise and correct knowledge of the truth...
